Meet the Missionary

Gil and Debbie Calderon

The Mexican Mission Organization is pleased to announce that Gil and Debbie Calderon on Aug 1, 2009 accepted the position of full time missionary.

Gil and Debbie Calderon met at the National Missionary Convention in EI Paso, TX in 1979. They were married in October 1980. Their first daughter, Erica, was born while they were still at Colegio Biblico, March 1983. Gil graduated from Colegio Biblico in Eagle Pass, TX in May 1983, and is an ordained minister in both the US and MX.  Debbie received a Bachelor of Theology degree from Ozark Bible College that same month.

Gil, Debbie, and 5 mo. old Erica went to Queretaro, Mexico in August 1983. Two more daughters were born in Queretaro: Megan in May 1985 and Amanda in June 1989. The Calderons spent 21 years living and ministering in Queretaro. They planted 2 churches: the Campo Militar church and the Loma Bonita church. They were both involved in many areas of ministry while in Mexico, including preaching, teaching and directing weeks of camp, teaching at the Bible Institute, helping with youth CIY weeks, being in charge of planning Missionary Reunions, hosting mission groups, and much, much more.

Gil and Debbie have been living in Webb City, MO since 2004. Debbie works as a GED instructor and has an evening GED class in Spanish. She considers this to be her mission at this time: helping Hispanics get their GED so that they can improve themselves and have better lives here in the U.S. Gil has been working, leading a small group in Spanish at Villa Heights Christian Church, and taking mission groups to Mexico several times a year.
